What I liked most was how personal and vulnerable the performance felt. Ormond has a gift for balancing humor, rage, and heartbreak in a way that feels brutally honest without ever slipping into self-indulgence. The play doesn’t just tell a story – it demands that you feel it, especially around the themes of medical gaslighting and being dismissed when you’re in pain. The writing is sharp, and the physicality of her performance adds layers that words alone couldn’t capture.
What I didn't like
What could be improved is mainly in the pacing. There were a couple of moments where the intensity plateaued, and trimming just a few beats might help keep the momentum tighter. That said, it didn’t take away from the impact – it’s more about refining an already powerful piece rather than fixing a flaw.
My overall impression
My overall impression of Call Me Crazy is that it’s a raw, fearless piece of theatre that stays with you long after the Pips NYT lights go down. Olivia Ormond delivers an unflinching performance that pulls you straight into her world, and the emotional intensity never lets up. It’s the kind of show that makes you sit forward in your seat, uncomfortable at times but completely compelled to keep watching.
