Everything, but esp. The WRITING!!! Wowza. The costumes, the acting, how each actor made the character their own. The sets were also impressive!
What I didn't like
LOL. They spilled a Coke on stage during the second half and the actors had to dance around it the rest of the performance. Kind of impressive actually. Maybe stick to prop foods >_<
My overall impression
What a treat. Phil Gould’s writing is so clever and inventive. Exactly what you would hope for from John Hughes x Shakespeare. The set and costumes evoke all the nostalgia of the film. This show reminded me what makes The Breakfast Club so powerful in the first place- compassion. We are all all of us. I particularly enjoyed the way they fleshed out the principal character. The verse knocked my socks off, but the jokes are accessible enough for anybody to understand. Mason Conrad Judd Nelsons all over the place. Dina Cataldi plays a teen with the perfect amount of cheekiness and mirth. These are some talented kids! Even though they’re all adults. >_<
