Mark is a master of the existential meltdown, moving perfectly between the absurdity and the depth of life’s greater meaning. The live video projection aspect is brilliant, and Mark is a natural at encouraging audience participation.
What I didn't like
The performance I watched was incredible. Being an interactive show, the experience will vary depending on what the participants in the audience do, and it is my hope that future audiences will have as much fun with it as we did.
My overall impression
You are the water. You are the trees. You are the fish and the birds and the insects and animals of the Alaskan wilderness.
This is not just some Zen wisdom, although I suppose it could be. This is Mark Vigeant’s “Out There,” an interactive show that has the entire audience playing all these parts as Mark plays Larry, an engineer contemplating whether he might be having a midlife crisis as he sets out on a solo trip in Alaska.
Of course, in these times, a solo adventure is meaningless unless you livestream it. The audience is all part of Larry’s livestream for views and likes, as he moves around the theater with his camera, creating real time video of his adventure going horribly wrong. Images are projected on the screen for all the audience to watch and laugh at.
