I loved the setup. It immediately sets itself apart with the steady cam and the different environs (tent, woods, river), but what’s really impressive is how Mark balances the video with actually staying present in the room. It can’t be as easy as it looked. He uses every part of the theatre to great effect. Also, the audience games were wild and fun and stupid, and it was so great to see them up on the screen. The ending is perfect. DO NOTMISSTHISSHOW!
What I didn't like
yea right.
My overall impression
Mark you beautiful bastard, you blew me away with this show. With Out There, he’s really created something special. Yes there’s the beautiful technical wizardry that drops you into a different world, but what really works here is that Mark has created a character that allows him to play to all his strengths and deliver so much pure joy to the audience. It’s really an engaging and loving performance, and the connection with the audience was palpable throughout. We were all on board and rooting for this guy. He was lovable, not despite his flaws but because of them. A truly special show, I hope it goes far and wide.
