We are at a point in this country where people on opposite sides of the political spectrum can no longer talk. We need theater that opens up discourse. Ghost Train is brilliantly crafted to do just this. The conversation starts innocently and when it hits a third rail issue, the characters don’t shy away because they’re already talking.
In America, we have many people engaged in talking about transgender people without ever having a conversation, knowingly, with someone who is transgender.
This piece will leave many theater goers with a broadened perspective and will inspire them to continue the conversation with their friends/family.
The acting was powerful and poignant.
What I didn't like
I wanted more. The landscape was so rich for a 40-min show. I wanted more backstory.
My overall impression
Thought provoking writing, staging, and acting that invites us to start a non-political conversation about an issue, transgender people’s right to exist, that has been politicized.
