I love the ritual of going down to the basement, including the slide!
I love the engaged audience noises and repetitions.
I loved the ending with Rod Macabre and the ‘real’ Ian.
What I didn't like
Providing ear plugs for sensitive audience members would be really sweet. You can get Hearos in bulk pretty cheap. The noise is louder than normal theater because it also comes from inside the audience when everybody claps and participates.
Finally – Todd Macabre needs to learn how to use a funnel when mixing potions. It would kill the bit, but it’s very sus. for a mad scientist that he doesn’t have one!
My overall impression
TODDMACABRE is a surprising, silly, funny, enchanting, playful trip into one dude’s inner world - and path to self-acceptance. With childhood horror fables in the vein of Edgar Allan Poe, Todd Macabre takes us through a dark woods, basement laboratory and spooky cemetery as his true repressed self peeks through and demands to be heard.
