The show blends grounded emotional realism with big and bold choices. Actors Spencer Weitzel and Callie Ott are a dynamic and well matched team, and each has time to shine. The dialogue (and emotions) hurtle at breakneck speed, and the actors run that marathon together, both turning out nuanced and powerful performances. The audience will have a hard time finding a villain here.
What I didn't like
Nothing really. There are some big creative choices that probably not everyone will like, but I think that’s part of the show’s charm.
My overall impression
A two hander that exemplifies the energy and promise of Fringe. This play comes together like a puzzle, moving beyond the initial strong comedy into heartbreak, revealing a relationship that’s not so much beyond saving as it is at a stalemate. A stalemate only mostly about a dog.
