I liked everything. No joke. The small space made everything feel so raw, but not as much as the story itself. How the fourth wall was broken many times by audience participation, and the writing of the script becoming its own part of the show. The props were objects of art, and the passing of time kept by the phases of the moon gave it a surreal and ethereal feel.
What I didn't like
Nothing, this was perfect. I wish it would play forever and grew from there.
My overall impression
This small musical left a huge impression on my soul and reminded me that art is alive and thriving. It packed a metaphorical punch to the gut with its relatable story and hilarious writing as I think we can all remember a time that we had a parasitic lover. Every moment of this incredibly intimate show was memorable, from the personification of sound to the puppetry and everything in between. It really was a coming together of so many art forms that the very definition of community exuded from every fiber of its being. Squirm breaths and lives on its own, and I truly hope that it has another cycle or even tours for the world to see it in all of it’s squirmy glory.
