What I liked

This is going to sound very silly, because as I said above I really loved all of it, but the outfit Mia was wearing with the three-dots motif is like the platonic ideal of Outfit.

Mia’s background in Intimacy Coordination created a really spellbinding and artful sex scene that was funny and hot and completely unique.

I loved all the songs and in particular “I want to spend as much of my life in love as possible” has become a pleasant echolalia for me the last few weeks, but my favorite song was the one about friendship and collecting moments, and my partner who came with me (and who said, with awe “i found myself crying while a worm puppet played a saxophone”) said “I knew you’d love that one, it’s so exactly how and what you love,” so Mia, if you’re reading this, I felt very seen by that one!

It’s remarkable how Mia (and the cast and creative team) could make a story so unusual in the specifics be so universal in its telling.

What I didn't like

This show deserves a bigger, longer run with a live band and sold-out houses. RUN to go see it while it’s still got those cozy blackbox vibes.

My overall impression

I was absolutely blown away by this show. I was impressed by the artistry in every aspect – the writing and music, of course, and the performances. The art direction, the scenic design (it’s hard to call them ‘sets’ – each piece was at once less and more than a set,) the use of musical instruments as their own kind of voice, the mesmerizing choreography, the knitting!

Truly astounding. I didn’t know anything about this going in and I’ve told random chatty strangers waiting in line for other shows to go see this show.
