A delightfully bizarre, joyous and frequently romantic excision of the kind of heartache that all artists must be subjected to on the route to wholeness. Mia is a refreshingly honest performer; they have shed all pretense in favor of raw vulnerability which is so rare....

This is a beautiful and hilarious love story that should not be missed! Mia and Nicholas take the audience on a journey of self discovery through a messy and intense Cancer season. The puppetry is brilliant and the music is heartwarming and humanizing. Their onstage chemistry was palpable and the struggles Mia faces overcoming their dependence on their fav lil scapegoat are so relatable on so many levels. When it comes to the abilities of a tapeworm, you will see things you didn't know were possible. Do yourself a favor and SEE THIS SHOW! ...

I was absolutely blown away by this show. I was impressed by the artistry in every aspect - the writing and music, of course, and the performances. The art direction, the scenic design (it's hard to call them 'sets' - each piece was at once less and more than a set,) the use of musical instruments as their own kind of voice, the mesmerizing choreography, the knitting!
Truly astounding. I didn't know anything about this going in and I've told random chatty strangers waiting in line for other shows to go see this show....

This is one of my favorite shows I've seen at Fringe! The set pieces, the live music, the well-written songs made the semi-autobiographical story come to life in such an engaging and connecting way. I loved it! ...

I've had these songs stuck in my head all week! The hooks are fantastic, and the story is so compelling. It's a fascinating exploration of how far self sabotage can go when we're afraid to achieve our dreams....

The level of artistry on display here is top-tier. Mia uses every single part of the performance animal -- and uses it to expert effect at that. Music, dance, puppetry, pantomime, good old fashioned drama -- it's all here and collides together to form the compelling picture of a person who struggles with the ways they make themself small. Not that I'd have any idea what that's like....

This was absolutely my favorite show I've seen at Fringe so far. Mia and Nick are fantastic performers and keep you hooked the entire time. This show resonated with me deeply and will be show I think about for a very long time. I left the theater feeling like I’d just witnessed something truly real....

i loved the chemistry between mia and squirm nicholas! this was a funny show that tackled processing and letting go of those difficult (yet familiar, so a little comforting…) things that are no longer serving us. i loved how it explored how hard it is to let go of any relationship, even the not-so-good ones....

I would have fallen in love with the tape worm, too. Especially nightmare tapeworm... gorgeous. Can't stop thinking about it. And I have "I wanna spend as much of my life in love, as possible" playing in my head on repeat. So much texture to this show, the themes of self-sabotage are so relatable and represented magically. Very beautiful and well written production through and through. ...

Squirm is a two hander puppet/solo show with a live saxophone/flutist. Mia tells the story of their experience having a tape worm (played by Nicholas Hemerling). The two have such playful chemistry and they sing original songs written by Mia. It's heartwarming and unique and full of surprises. ...
