What I liked most is that when people say they’re considering doing a one-person show, I can now point them to Marcus is Alive and say, THIS IS WHAT A ONE-PERSONSHOWSHOULDFEELLIKE.
What I didn't like
I wish Marcus had a litter of 7 week-old golden retriever puppies in the show. Nobody does that in one-person shows. I think it’s a really missed opportunity to not have them. I would have had little to do with the show, but at least it’s an honest answer to a garbage question.
My overall impression
Line, line, punchline—without being cheesy, and always with heart. That’s Marcus’ show. The writing is beat-for-beat polished and the story is a story we as the audience really got into and cared about the outcome. I’d like to call it engaging but you might think I’m making a pun on how many times Marcus proposed marriage. I’m not. I went to the show super exhausted, it was a dark theater with comfy chairs. I was at attention the entire time.
