Mara has a level of genius to infuse dark humor into subject matter that on its surface isn’t funny and can be incredibly uncomfortable to talk about.
She utilized the space in a minimalist way with well-timed lighting changes in just a few props and projections to really hit home certain moments.
Mara played the roles of two or three facets of her personality feuding and yet we never doubted which voice was speaking. Each had their own unique character.
For anyone who has suffered from body dysmorphia, severe disordered eating, or a clinical eating disorder, this show will highlight that those powerful voices in your head are not unique; the exhaustion is real.
What I didn't like
I’m not creative enough to figure out how to improve a show like this.
My overall impression
This is a powerful, captivating, thought-provoking one woman show. It gives the audience a window into the insidious power of addiction and mental illness.
