Have you ever had a mind so restless your night won’t shut up? Ever wonder what it looks like upstairs, while you lay still in bed, screaming at yourself? Ever feel like no matter how much “inner work” you do to become “healthy,” your own gorgeous, makeshift, shadow-committee seems to find a way to seep back into your present self?
OR, to put it plainly, have you ever questioned, doubted, examined, hated, loathed, convicted or argued with yourself out of, into, around and away from any positive thought that’s attempted it’s way into your psyche, only to escalate and morph into your most aggressive and worst inner demons? AND NOW, those demons want to play ball with you on a school night, or rather, a very very early morning? AND THEN, all anyone can say is “Aww, you just have to conquer self love, sweetheart!” Do you even know what that stupid phrase “self love” even means?
Anyone? Ya, us neither…
POACHED is a rendition of that familiar nightly trope that only the very best of us experience. This long night’s journey into day is written and performed by your everyday-breakneck-manic-mental-mess and comedian, Mara Weisband.
After a fun jaunt down various lanes via comedy, Mara then intricately weaves, dances, and choke slams us through broken romance, career confusion, addiction, and body image – and yes… a story of trying to understand this illusive, woo-woo self love. A term we’ve all heard, but I’m telling you, not like this. Unleashing a cast of characters, that may even make you question your own upstairs committee as we travel deeper and deeper into the war zone with the never-mastered mind.
NO LATE SEATING : please arrive early, Hollywood is busy, and parking can be difficult. This is a fast moving FESTIVAL, so late seating can’t be permitted.
