A cohesive structure mixed in with different storylines and laughs. I really liked Mandy Rubeli’s performance!
What I didn't like
Some of the characters seemed a bit campy, or tropes were on the nose, but it all fit in with the style.
My overall impression
In Except Myself, playwright Drew Petriello takes on an ambitious and slippery subject: the self. It is reminiscent of Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art, reminding us that Resistance plays a huge part in blocking our creativity. It starts out chaotic but blends into wit, playfulness, and a surprising emotional punch.
