The whole cast was fantastic, but the standouts for me were Hollow’s doofily lovable Keanu, and Sie’s meticulously precise Slick. And in a Fringe season where every show is using projections (whether the show needs it or not), the employment of them in Except Myself were chef’s kiss
What I didn't like
Nitpick but I think some sections could be tightened, particularly some of the moments where the selves overlap each other’s dialogue, but again it’s a minor zhush.
My overall impression
The concept of the personification of our inner facets and emotions is nothing new (both Herman’s Head and Inside Out mined this topic), however, Petriello’s script is a fresh decidedly fresh and theatrical take. I love the very relatable concept of competing solo shows battling it out within one’s head! Combine that with nimble direction by Karsh, and a delightfully charming cast, and you come out with a sweet, hilarious, and ultimately empowering Fringe show!
