What I liked

While working on a series of short-form edits for online content, I realized that my workflow kept stalling at the same stage—finding suitable background audio. To reduce that friction, I standardized my starting point with royalty free music and integrated it directly into early project planning.
Instead of treating sound as an afterthought, I now assign it before detailed editing begins. This creates a reference rhythm that influences everything from cut timing to scene transitions. As a result, edits feel more coherent even in rough draft stages.
I also noticed fewer mid-project corrections. Previously, I would frequently rework sequences after realizing the audio didn’t match pacing. Now that alignment happens earlier, the structure of the video remains more stable throughout production.
Another advantage is reduced context switching. Moving between different projects used to require rethinking tone from scratch, but having a consistent audio entry point simplifies that process.
Overall, this adjustment made my workflow more predictable and helped maintain creative focus during fast turnaround work.
