The lighting design was fantastic – bringing you into this dark, menacing, and familiar place that felt other worldly at the same time. The characters and their specificity made it so easy and enjoyable to track the story. And the goth rock anthem and dance sequences were the perfect chapter breaks in this well-written, imaginative, piece of fiction.
What I didn't like
Would love to see it again! I can see “Prom Queen of Hell!!!” in even larger venues, with fog machines, louder sounds, brighter lights, and even pyro?!
My overall impression
One of the most captivating shows of Hollywood Fringe, “Prom Queen of Hell!!!” is “Carrie” meets “Rosemary’s Baby” with a rock and roll backdrop that has you engaged from beginning to end. I loved the attitude of this show – dark, menacing, hilarious, dramatic, and visually stimulating. The lighting design and set decor bring you to the world of this teen’s journey with her home life with a “Kathy Bates from Misery” mother and a cast of high school characters that have more secrets than the cast of “Riverdale”.
