What I liked

I think the few scenes between people dealing with the consequences of the administration did a lot to drive home the core idea behind the show, and I wished more of the show was like that
The actors gave great performances, with particular note to Monique Aleczandria who gave some incredible heart and passion to the scenes she was in

What I didn't like

There was an AI voice of Trump used during the performance, which I cannot in good faith call anything but utterly tone deaf and insulting to art as a whole, AI has no place here and I would like to see it replaced

I feel the show was tonally inconsistent, jumping between silly goofy scenes and incredibly heavy SA and distressing topics, I was getting whiplash between scenes.

I don’t know what the show wanted to be, did it want to be a silly satire with some goofy bits that clown on the administration? A heartwrenching look at the very real consequences of the policies we live under? A Jimmy Kimmel holier than thou monologue session? I think more focus on one direction would’ve made the whole experience feel more cohesive and focused.

My overall impression

The show was created in response to the administration threatening to pull funding for fringe if they didn’t restrict race and gender based shows, and so this was written 2 weeks beforehand in response to spite them. I fully get behind that and support that decision, but I think this show falls into the ambition trap that all artists fall into, where it tries to do too much and gets bogged down in its own weight. I think some people might find something to enjoy in this production, as parts really did shine, it’s unfortunate they were few and far between for me personally.
