I've seen plays from Broadway to LA...and Rodeo Town is one of the most well written and flawlessly acted dark comedies I've experienced thus far. It explores the issues of trust and tradition in a deeply moving, yet suspenseful plot. The relationship between the tortured yet loving Lonnie (Harry Beer) and the pure innocence of Kelly (Dustin Bayers)exemplifies the fraternal bond some men possess. In contrast, the arrogance of Garth (Eric Cire) and naivete of Richard (Dustin Gooch) manifests how often the more powerful manipulate others with ease. A powerful, clever, and dark story addressing the nature of power. Each of the characters embodies a different and complex idea of masculinity; I laughed, smiled, and was profoundly disturbed by the brutality that men can show one another. The cast is top notch; no weak links in the chain. Scenic, costume, and lighting did wonderful work with limited resources. Definitely worth making time for!... full review

Rodeo Town is a well written and directed addition to live theater. The mystery and intrigue throughout the entire play left the audience itching to figure out what would happen next. The story was easy to follow yet it held many details. No dialogue was useless. It was all absolutely integral to the play. The actors fit their roles precisely and the few props used were well utilized in each scene. Such a small theater gives the audience a chance to journey along with the "new guy in town" and feel what the characters feel in a unique way. Rodeo Town made a bold statement with its controversial brief content, however I believe this was an accurate portrayal of the depravity of the human heart. It's been two days since I had the opportunity to see Graham Bowlin's new play RODEO TOWN and still can't shake it. When was the last time you saw something both relentlessly suspenseful and undoubtedly unique? It seems like every play, movie, book, I read these days is utterly predictable. Not Rodeo Town. There are a million ways this show can play out. To say much about the plot would be a disservice to the show. Suffice to say the meticulously structured events, sharp dialogue, and top notch acting made for an evening at the theatre I won't soon forget. "Rodeo Town" is a wonderfully entertaining original play. I came to the show without any prior knowledge on the story, but instantly felt engaged to the actors. The cast shares a natural chemistry with each other, as well as perfect comedic timing. Graham Bowlin has created an enjoyable blend of humor and darkness, a great commentary on manhood, and quite a surprising twist at the end. I smiled throughout the majority of the play, but my eyes literally bulged out of my head at the finale. I highly recommend "Rodeo Town." ... full review

This is truly a gem of the 2013 festival. Rodeo Town is one of those plays that stays with you after you leave the theater. This cast works together as a beautiful ensemble to take the audience on a ride full of unexpected dark turns. Eric Cire gives an incredible performance as Garth and is the driving force that keeps the story moving. What do you want? Seriously....what is it that you want? One character asks this question in Rodeo Town. And it made me ask my self what I wanted out of Theatre. Do you want something gritty, truthful, messy, and strangely familial? Well then, to borrow a phrase, this is the show for you. I sat in the second row, which I maintain was a damn good choice; and as the sweat, blood, and cornbread poured off stage, I was brought right into the middle of a southern war zone between four characters....some are at war with themselves, all are at war with each other.
