Thank you for an excellent production!
Faith is awesome in her convincing presentation of a vulnerable, damaged, and anxious protagonist navigating the challenges of life, love, career, manipulation and also mental health. Faith is amazing in having created, written and acted this powerful exposition of exploitation. The play is exquisitely constructed with every element critical, relevant, well thought out and portrayed, including broken first love relationship, hunger for career/professional success (or at least a livelihood with minimal work), vulnerability (both emotionally and professionally), and manipulation by comparatively influential characters, with resonance from Monica Lewinsky’s unequal challenges and #Metoo victims.
Not only is this one person play flawlessly created and delivered (including creative use of lighting and voice recordings to represent additional characters) but Faith also manages to ad lib in response to extraneous street sounds and to involve the audience for responses to validate her inner thoughts.
The play explores some sensitive and challenging themes and does so in a very genuine, open, thoughtful and effective manner, laying bare the protagonist’s fears and desires, as well as the circumstances that led to those fears and desires being exploited by individuals with influence or control over her future as leverage for their manipulation.
An intimate and powerful presentation, especially so given the close proximity of actor and audience in the very well suited Stephanie Feury Studio Theatre.
Congratulations to Faith, Fiona and friends for this excellent piece of theatre. We expect much future success from this team!
What I didn't like
The one ambiguity, for me at least, concerned the protagonist’s motives and expectations for disclosing infidelity to the exploiter’s wife (other than perhaps simply revenge against the unfaithful husband who also used or abused Faith’s character).
My overall impression
Excellent creative, thought provoking and very well acted
