The cast, Kelsey Tuma and Aric Kline, pull off a grounded yet effervescent performance. The discussion about time travel in the second half felt like it was lifted out of an overheard coffee shop conversation in the best way. And (spoilers….) the ending delivers on a lofty promise with a big bang to mourn the time we lose at each passing moment.
What I didn't like
IMO pantomime, without backing music, can feel loud at times.
My overall impression
Her Ghost is an ambitious sci-fi love story told through a minimalist series of dates across a post pandemic and pre apocalyptic Los Angeles. The big sprawling city setting feels like a character itself and helps tie together the themes of loneliness, longing, and hopefulness in the face of a future mired by our own poor choices as a species.
