The show is amazing on its own but it becomes something unforgettable because of the person on stage. Linzy Beltran is a star. Her presence is undeniable and her power can take over any room with ease. She’s funny, magnetic, and totally in command even while being completely unhinged in the best way. El Mago Loco is hilarious and chaotic but it also leaves you with plenty to think about. It dives into big cultural and political questions, especially around immigration and identity in the US, without ever feeling heavy handed or maybe just the right amount. This show felt like watching one of the greats at Woodstock, and we should all be so lucky to have witnessed Linzy Beltran before she inevitably becomes a superstar. Linzy’s energy and total command of a big, packed crowd is a testament to both who she is as a person, and her outrageous clown. The hour went by too quickly, I never wanted El Mago’s hijinks to end. Linzy Beltran had a stunning command of the audience like I've very rarely seen before on a professional stage. She is cool, confident, and absolutely hilarious. Fringe can be a beautiful place for artists to learn and grow and explore, but Linzy is a total pro. Her clowning was exceptional; her comic timing could not have been more perfect; her crowd work was masterful; and her stage presence proves she is a natural-born performer. She spent her hour on the stage like she lived there, like it was her home -- and she was so kind to invite us all in to stay for a while. Because oh what a beautiful home it was!... full review
