Annie Laurie Daniel fuses dramatic acting chops with wry humor and a little clowning thrown in for good measure.
What I didn't like
I think the performance could benefit from a slightly larger space.
My overall impression
Annie Laurie Daniel brings the smoking section to the stage with International Party Girl—a solo show that satirizes and ever so slightly glamorizes the life of the vodka and ketamine-friendly, perhaps at a certain famous club in Berlin. The protagonist’s endless one-upmanship and commitment to throwing their hands up in the air (“so there”) for minutes on end helps the show maintain a comedic tone throughout, but not before yanking us back to reality when we realize the plight of the Party Girl: when does it end? And what happens when it does?
