This show hits the millennial nostalgia core hard!! To a millennial like me, the video montages of 90s/00s pop culture were fun and took you right back to those times.
I was worried the band/music might be too loud given that it’s “punk”, however they had employed some clever tricks like wrapping the cymbals in cloth to mitigate volume. The blending of the live band with the backing track was done very well, very seamless.
Deegie’s vocals were the real highlight for me. Her pitch is right on, and her stamina is simply unreal! Belting out those notes all through the show with no sign of fatigue. She is expressive in her delivery and commanding in her body language. The songs themselves I found to be very well crafted.
What I didn't like
There were some technical issues regarding the mix of her voice against the tracks. At the very beginning of songs the vocals needed to be brought up sooner. I’m sure it’s tricky to get the timing of that right and would come with practice
My overall impression
Deegie is a fantastic singer and songwriter who takes you on an authentic and relatable journey through her search for love. She’s able to take those moments you look back on and cringe, and make them funny and charming. Very entertaining! Recommended.
