The songs and how they were incorpated into the story. I also really enjoyed the use of video to showcase where each part of the story takes place and how these fictional characters in various tv shows and film clips reflect what is going on in the story.

My overall impression
My favorite musicals are the ones that are earnest and from the heart. You have to be sincere if you’re going to be singing your feelings. Exes definitely comes from a real place. It is a wonderful exploration of the complicated and messy world of relationships. Throughout the show, we get a great sense of evolution and growth in the music and Deegie’s performance.
She tells us her story and who she is, and we get to see her go through the trials and tribulations of her relationships, learning about herself as she goes. Each part of the show gives us a fuller sense of who she is and how she is changing through the years. It’s an incredibly well-done show that takes us inside her head. Deegie is a magnificent performer, bringing so much heart and passion to the songs. I highly recommend Exes.
