Deegie is a great performer. Her singing was powerful. I also enjoyed the visual elements of the TV and the video montages. The band did a great job, and the diary was a cool prop. It made the frame narrative really clear.
What I didn't like
I think the night I saw the show they were having some minor technical difficulties with the mics. It seemed like Deegie’s lavalier was too quiet once she was singing and the handheld mic was great, but she didn’t get to it immediately (or at all for some songs).
My overall impression
This show was moving, funny, and original. I have never seen another show like it. The video element worked really well to move the audience through time. There was a nostalgia to the whole experience that made Deegie’s story so resonant with anyone who has ever dated and faced cultural pressure around dating.
