About the Project

This play is a dedication (warcry?) to those who yearn to connect and sometimes, often, have no idea how.

June desperately wants to be a good girl, but with all the ambition and rage of someone destined to be anything else. When a classmate accidentally burps in her face, she utters, I’m sorry, and then, thinking about the incident later, reads The Art of War.

David is an old soul in a body he feels will never be appreciated the way it might have been decades prior. He has worked hard to become what he feels society demands of him, and now, cannot understand why they’re angry with the result. He used to watch porn online, but now, instead of watching videos of women being beaten on his laptop, he can make himself cum just by imagining strangling a woman. This transition was difficult, but he’s proud of this change.

The two meet in person for the first time after “matching” online, and it’s not quite what either of them hoped for. The dimly lit cozy restaurant in Los Angeles should be the perfect space for romance, but David and June can’t help but find themselves in moments of violent disconnect.
