What I liked

It was only 45 minutes! The perfect length for a Fringe Show

What I didn't like

It was very well done. I hope more people see this play and come up with their own opinions on it.

My overall impression

I went to see this show in its preview and thought I’d see a work in progress. However, as I entered the theater I knew that I was about to witness something really special!

Mulcahy’s performance was captivating from the moment the you took your seat. From a subtle wig adjustment to a campy face reveal, I was made aware that Nancy Reagan was in the room with us.

Mulcahy’s embodiment of “Nancy” was truly outstanding. Every single choice, from his tone of voice, to his mannerisms to his use of props helped me answer the question: “What would happen if you were to meet a former first lady in a limbo bathhouse??”.

The script was also a riot!! “Nancy’s” monologue on how detrimental Musical Theatre is for society was inspired. There were so many relatable moments in this play and there were also moments that were educational (If any information about the presidential libraries was true, of course… I guess I will have to go visit them now!)

Overall, Mulcahy made me feel comfortable. I felt the invitation to laugh with the character because the character was always present. The play never lacked in energy and every single spoken sentence was meaningful.

Kudos to Mulcahy and Nancy. Can’t wait to see what’s in the future for this one.
