Seamus is excellent as Nancy Reagan (or as someone playing Nancy Reagan— there is a really interesting meta element to the show). This show is a really interesting exploration of Nancy Reagan's life, which subtly draws attention to how she neglected to speak out about the AIDS crisis, even though she was FLOTUS at the height of it. ... full review

It’s timely that Seamus Mulcahy’s hilarious Hollywood Fringe show, A HISTORICAL GAY COMEDY STARRING NANCY REAGAN, previewed just one day before Cole Escola won the Tony Award, also for playing the wife of a US President. This show feels like, as Nancy might sing,”the start of something big”. Seamus Mulcahy’s masterful acting/clown skills imbue Nancy Reagan, speaking from the grave, with outrageous drag and subtle nuance - in a flaming red dress, heels and pearls, with no more than a head tilt, an upward glance, a sigh, a shift from one hip to the other - we fall at the feet of this repressed, bazaar, robotically-conservative, controlling, dead woman. Laughter roared as Mulcahy’s Nancy recounts her past in all it’s unhinged ridiculous mystery... full review

A genuinely weird and funny show about generational trauma and queer brain rot. The love child of Warhol and Kids in the Hall, with a Jerry Herman score. I loved it.... full review

I went to see this show in its preview and thought I'd see a work in progress. However, as I entered the theater I knew that I was about to witness something really special! Mulcahy's performance was captivating from the moment the you took your seat. From a subtle wig adjustment to a campy face reveal, I was made aware that Nancy Reagan was in the room with us. Mulcahy's embodiment of "Nancy" was truly outstanding. Every single choice, from his tone of voice, to his mannerisms to his use of props helped me answer the question: "What would happen if you were to meet a former first lady in a limbo bathhouse??". The script was also a riot!! "Nancy's" monologue on how detrimental Musical Theatre is for society was inspired. There were... full review

The show was magical, whimsical, chaotic, joyful, inventive, theatrical and a unique celebration of absurdist solo performance. Seamus crushed it with confidence, ease, and mastery in his hilarious portrayal of Nancy Reagan. His passion for the material was evident in the depth and breadth of his writing and his appreciation for the bizarre context of Nancy Reagan's journey from Hollywood to the White House leads the audience into a wild collage of his beautiful constructed, fractured, narrative. Seamus had us in the palm of his hand, his slightest move triggered us into laughter and we were so game to go on the ride with him. HIGHLY RECOMMEND... full review

A larger-than-life, yet grounded, portrayal of one of America’s great modern villains. It manages to remind us that she was once a human being, without excusing or justifying any of her choices.... full review
