What I liked
I was already a fan of Angeline Mirenda’s and Andrew Puente’s AP Sex Ed account on social media, so this was an obvious choice for me. The improvisers are extremely talented, and Mirenda’s PowerPoint clipart is sufficiently unhinged that that it guarantees a funny improv portion. The presentation after the improv is delivered with compassion, humor, and an unending well of knowledge from Mirenda, detailing everything from the biological processes to kink to sociology to psychology. I am one of the few Americans who actually received somewhat comprehensive sex ed (shout-out to the Our Whole Lives program and books by Robie H. Harris and Michael Emberley!) and even I learned a couple things! This show should be required reading.
What I didn't like
The fact that it’s on a different topic each night means I can’t see all of them live…but not only are the creators very accommodating to repeat audience members, they are also recording all of the performances! PHEW!
My overall impression
Funny, informative, and so desperately needed, AP Sex Ed is perfect for anyone cursed with enduring America’s abysmal sex ed programs.
