Like all clown shows, the balance of solo material to audience interaction must be kept in close balance for success. Emily’s ability to interweave these disparate elements creates the carefully controlled chaos was playful and dangerous but never meandering. She’s an excellent puppet master.
What I didn't like
I don’t like that this section of the review is published to the website! It should be private, anonymous feedback to the performer. Most people doing shows at Fringe need all the help they can get to pack their theaters, and constructive criticism, while certainly helpful, doesn’t belong on a public forum where strangers might be considering buying tickets. Promotion and feedback are completely different forums.
My overall impression
A sweeping and hilarious revue of the tropes female performers find themselves trapped in, Emily brings a fresh perspective on an exhausting paradigm.
