What I liked

What makes Layers of Love truly exceptional is its ability to uplift without ever slipping into sentimentality. It’s a rare theatrical experience that leaves you both inspired and introspective. Don’t miss this original gem—bold in truth, generous in spirit, and a testament to the transformative power of live storytelling. A must-see.

What I didn't like

While Layers of Love is a moving and heartfelt work with an admirable core message, there are opportunities to deepen its impact even further. A few transitions between scenes could be streamlined to maintain momentum, and certain emotional beats might benefit from more subtlety, allowing the audience to fully absorb the nuance without being guided too directly. At times, some dialogue leans into exposition rather than discovery, and tightening those moments could heighten the authenticity even more. That said, these are gentle refinements for a play that already resonates with honesty and emotional clarity.

My overall impression

Layers of Love by Pavel Tabutov is a moving triumph of contemporary theatre—authentic, heartfelt, and beautifully rendered. Based on real events, the play weaves a powerful story of acceptance and love with sincerity and nuance. Tabutov’s characters are deeply human, their journeys compelling and richly structured.
