What I liked

This was a show of discovery for me. Again, an obscure catalogue of Sondheim songs. As a fan of musical theatre who listens to as many albums as he can, incessantly, it’s truly exciting to hear stuff I simply never had before and even a few that I now won’t forget!

What I didn't like

Microphones, surprisingly, can be a little difficult to source for Fringe shows sometimes and you got to work with what you got however it would’ve been great for the performers to be mic’d up. They have such beautiful voices and I wanted to hear them more clearly.

My overall impression

Never heard of this show before, but I love me a good musical revue and this was a very sweet performance with some beautiful vocals and toe-tapping musical direction.

Gina Ansaldi and Kendre Scott are very charming as the couple featured in the story. Even more so when you learn that they’re actually a couple in real life. Yes, as much as Ansaldi and Scott shine as dynamic talents individually, you can’t deny there is an added layer of “awww” knowing they’re a married creative team and that authenticity makes the bittersweetness of the story all the more palpable.
