Fu is gifted with next-level crowd work that would make the most hardened busker tip their hat. The exhilarating use of space is thrilling and fresh. Low budget theatre magics itself into a blockbuster with clever ingenuity and catharsis-inducing humor packaged as a high-voltage homage. Fu pushes the boundaries of what a fringe show can do in all the right ways. I’m that audience member who remains seated during the applause; Woody Fu: One Man John Wick brought me to my feet. And I saw it at midnight.
What I didn't like
There are a few sections that feel underrehearsed, where the sound track and action don’t quite align. If this is intentional, it is not the strongest choice given the artist’s blatant talent and capabilities. The action figure scene in the second half drags a bit because we’ve already experienced the joke. But this show gets 10/10! Must see!
My overall impression
Utterly stupid. Brilliantly executed. Pee-yourself funny. Woody Fu’s adept pantomime is top notch, his ridiculous fight choreography masterful. I’ve never seen such an enjoyable spectacle of violence! An absolute must see.
