What I liked

Addy’s ability to balance humor and heartbreak is truly remarkable. Her retelling of her father’s death and the road trip that followed is so honest and nuanced. I especially loved the way she used lighting cues to deepen the emotional tone of each scene — they pulled us right into her world and made the experience even more immersive.

What I didn't like

Honestly, I just wanted more. More time with the characters, more scenes, more of Addy’s voice. The show flew by, and I would’ve happily stayed for another hour.

My overall impression

My husband and I went to see Grief Baby’s First Road Trip not fully knowing what to expect — and we left completely floored. Addy’s one-woman show is a masterclass in storytelling: raw, funny, vulnerable, and so beautifully human. We laughed harder than we thought we would and cried more than we were ready for.

The way Addy brings to life the loss of her father and the emotional journey that followed — literally and figuratively — is nothing short of breathtaking. Through sharp wit, poignant reflections, and just the right dose of absurdity, she invites the audience into her grief without ever making it feel heavy-handed. Instead, it feels healing. Alive. And somehow… joyful.

Go see this show if you haven’t already. It’s a rare gem that will stick with you long after the lights come up. We’re still in awe.
