Cici Lau brought so much to her role as the matriarch of the family. The acting was superb. As audience members, we were pulled into the story as if we were also part of the family. An important and informative story to tell.
What I didn't like
As a staged reading, we weren’t able to see how the story would look like fully staged—but the actors and dialogue drove the story, anyway. I’m looking forward to seeing how this would look as a full production. One more thing: the play is listed under the comedic theatre category. There were some funny lines but I would categorize this more under dramatic theatre.
My overall impression
Heart-wrenching show! Bring tissues! Then call your loved ones afterwards. The actors were great, especially the lead matriarch played by Cici Lau. Not only dramatic but informative about the Medical Aid in Dying option that was made available in California nearly a decade ago.
