The tech was impeccable in the storytelling process. The simple tech design gave just enough to introduce the world, while also allowing for the storytelling to take front and center.
What I didn't like
Love the sequencing of events that leads to fantastic banter. The pacing could be adjusted, the more dramatic events in the story were rushed through at times, and I would have loved to been given time as an audience member to sit in those moments while the actor is experiencing them.
My overall impression
This is such a great story to tell in an intimate space. I enjoyed the tight-knit audience and studio theatre. The play brought just the right mix of comedy and drama while also bringing you into the world of the story. I could see and hear the other characters as Richard would describe them or say their words—their characteristics, habits, and patterns all playing through the story. Certainly an evening of empathy and walking in others’ shoes that also asks the audience to become introspective in order to see themselves and the people in their own lives as beings who simply need love and caring for. Go see this show while you can!
