It’s a script that Pam Eberhardt should be proud of; the entire cast hit the right notes at the right times, but Lucas Alifano and Emily Clark stand out as over-the-top comic characters. They don’t steal scenes because the other performers are never overshadowed, but they do drive the action whenever they are on stage and always deliver.
What I didn't like
When this gem comes to the very end, I am wondering about the core choice of the central character — sparing someone else a burden is a straightforward enough motivation, but it struck me as a stretch to imagine that one would keep such an important issue from a still-loved spouse on that basis alone. This is a script tweak and a minor issue against the backdrop of a show that truly shines.
My overall impression
The best show I’ve seen anywhere in two years; brilliantly written with a cast that squeezed every ounce of comic potential out of every line. It has standard rom com tropes, which serve as a useful framework for individual lines, characters, and subplots to explore poignant and entertaining moments.
