What I liked
The cast was fantastic. Leigh Wulff brought a grounded-ness to her role that played well opposite Rebecca Larsen and helped the audience buy in. Richardson Cisneros-Jones was fantastically despicable in a way that is very fun to watch. And Schoen Hodges managed to do an emotional 180 that was highly engaging.
What I didn't like
This show would do well to have a longer run. Here’s wishing it many future venues!
My overall impression
This show is clever, funny and honest. The plot leads to a conflict that escalates to a point at which it becomes rather uncomfortable for the characters and, yet, it is remarkably never uncomfortable for the audience.
The audience laughed loudly and often, for good reason. The show doesn’t rely on cheap thrills, easy reference jokes or low-hanging fruit; the laughter was earned through solid, well-written character-driven comedy.
In addition to being funny, the show manages to share a message that’s worth sharing: even in insane situations and under great adversity, love can prevail and relationships can survive. We need more work like this in the world.
