What I liked
The clever, absurd, and emotional use of space and props, the oscillation between personal confessional style and character drama, the funny parts.
What I didn't like
If there’s an area I could see improving, it’d be giving the narrative structure a bit more clarity and tension. The only soft spots were when I had no expectation or hope or fear for what scene would come next. Even though I was always happy to watch more, tracking a clearer narrative path for the stakes to follow could link the many great pieces of the show together and deepen the whole piece even further.
My overall impression
Smart, very funny blast through the uncanny outer orbits of motherhood that still stays decidedly grounded and relatable to all humankind. And that’s coming from a childless man. Jess Mele is a force!
