Antony Zioni - Tales of the Ancient East

What I liked

The production and lighting design were stellar. From entry a mood is set and Zioni is a born performer. The costume and set design were all fantastic and the lighting design is some of the strongest Ive see in a fringe show

What I didn't like

The problem is that for all the technical and artistic prowess there just isnt much of a show. After a great intro, the ritual begins and the next 40 minutes or so stay at the same level. It doesn’t build or peak, it just keeps going and then ends. Returns to the narrator or an arc that ties the individual stories together would give the show some direction. As it stand now it feels more like an art exhibit.

Also, lay off the fog and provide a warning pre show about its use. I work with haze a lot and this is one of the first times its been so dense as to give me a headache.

My overall impression

An amazing amount of talent that needs to be put to better uses
