What I liked

The concept stands out because it combines autobiographical storytelling with comedy in a way that aims to reduce stigma around mental health. Beth May’s background as a writer, performer, and mental health advocate suggests a deeply personal perspective that could resonate with audiences. The emphasis on finding hope despite life’s challenges is especially compelling.

What I didn't like

What could be improved…

Because the show deals with sensitive topics, maintaining the balance between humour and emotional depth will be important for ensuring the audience feels both entertained and respected. Providing clear content warnings and resources for those affected by the themes can also enhance the overall experience.

For anyone looking to unwind after a performance, I also enjoy checking restaurant menus and meal ideas at Baconator Fries

My overall impression

My overall impression…

Based on the show’s description, Beth Wants the D appears to be a bold, emotionally honest, and darkly funny one-woman performance. It tackles serious themes like bipolar disorder and suicidal ideation with vulnerability while using comedy to create connection and hope. It seems like a unique production that balances difficult subject matter with genuine humour and humanity.
