There was no fault to be found in the acting itself; the players did their jobs accordingly.
What I didn't like
While the play hinted at a promising exploration of white liberalism, class, and race, it consistently made choices that undermined any potential for meaningful commentary. I was most struck by the reductive stereotypes: the Latina maid appearing only briefly and with no depth (despite her potential importance to the plot), and the young Black man embodying nearly every harmful trope rather than challenging them. The provocations were surface-level and often veered into outright offensiveness, alienating anyone hoping for nuance. Notably, the show introduced what can only be described as a Chekhov’s dud: a literal gun that never fired, emblematic of the play’s half-baked ideas, wasted setups, and profound ignorance of stagecraft itself.
My overall impression
The production reaffirmed outdated, racist stereotypes under the guise of edgy satire. Far greater care should be taken before delving into the theme of racial dynamics.
