Kudos to the talented band and dynamic cast. There was palpable chemistry between many pairings including Cindy Robinson and Sean Keller, Cindy and Nathan Larkins, as well as Bonnie Sludikoff, Elissa Wagner, Abhaya Krishnan-Jha, and Natalia Polo as the four sisters who played their sibling rivalry to the hilt.
I was going to list “standout songs” but they all had special moments…”Scarlett O’Hara” (wonderful musical arrangement featuring the incomparable Cindy Robinson and a lovely round at the end), “Glamour Girls” (sibling rivals in a glam-off with Natalia declaring herself “Queen” — wait for Abhaya’s “Wicked” moment!) , M.R.S. (showstopper with a catchy refrain and round), “Promises I Kept” (Elissa breaks your heart), “This Rain” (a beautiful song about a sweet “meet cute” between Cindy and Sean, and “Home” (the feel-good song of show).
Bottom line. This is a worthwhile trip to the theater.
What I didn't like
Looking forward to more of the story and additional songs (They said there are over 20 in the full show).
My overall impression
What a joy this show was! While the entirety of the story can’t be conveyed in a short 45-minutes, the timeless themes of family dysfunction, hurting the ones you (supposedly) love, and breaking cycles of generational trauma to find happiness rang true. You might think a show about “trauma” would be a bit of a downer, but you would be wrong. This is one bunch of catchy, uplifting songs that will you will likely find yourself humming in the days after.
