What I liked

The show is beautifully staged, with evocative props and sound design to complement the expressive and playful performance(s). The quality of production is higher than a few other shows I’ve seen at Fringe – it’s in the hands of an experienced and playful team. Karen’s interaction with the audience was delicate and lovely – I felt drawn into the show’s world and like she was as curious (and baffled) by me as I was by her.

What I didn't like

It’s hard to know for sure, as I didn’t see the show as it was intended! I had a little trouble following the central metaphor, but I think that won’t be an issue in future showings since I saw it under such unusual circumstances.

My overall impression

Karen Hall carried on through an emergency, presenting a show devised as a duo as a completely solo show in a bravura performance. The show is fully visual and nonverbal, tracing the history of humans from their inception through modernity. It was funny and sweet, with plenty of surprises and grace in one of the most difficult circumstances I can imagine performing under.
