About the Project

THE VAMPIRE welcomes you to his lair, but he’d really appreciate it if you sat in the corner and did not speak.

THE VAMPIRE is here to mesmerize you with contemporary-jazz fusion dance moves, acrobatics, and a score that will take you back to the days of early 2000’s punk rock.

Have you ever heard of that odd little thing called autism? At a baseline someone with autism might struggle to understand the social cues of those around them…

What about those creepy but alluring creatures of the night called vampires? Have you ever seen a vampire with autism? Surely that’s got your gears turning? What an odd combination. How absurdly annoying that must be for that poor vampire! No doubt your head is filled with all sorts of oddities and complexities. Can you even comprehend a vampire with autism?

Wonder no more. VAMPIRE VS. AUTISM is here to flip autism on its head!

Join THE VAMPIRE, a poor soul who has been afflicted by the dark curse of vampirism, and struggles with his identity as both a creature of the night and a simple man with autism. Trapped within his lair and with little else to do, you’ll experience THE VAMPIRE‘s inner world of angst and frustration as a ride through contemporary dance with comedic vampiric allure.  This short 30 minute piece about a very angry vampire will have you laughing, and thinking, "I didn’t know autism could look like this."

In light of comments made by the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services:

VAMPIRE VS AUTISM is an entirely self produced piece of art by a queer autistic man who would like to show this as proof that people with autism, and indeed all persons with a disability are quite capable and are not a burden on society.
