Kelly Beacon is running for mayor of a town called Nothing. The only problem? That town doesn’t exist.
Mayor of Nothing is a darkly comedic solo show that dives into the mind of a woman determined to succeed—even if she has to invent her own world to do it. Through the highs and lows of political success and viral fame, Kelly spirals deeper into a fantasy built to protect her from the looming specter of failure.
But as the fantasy unravels, so does her grip on reality.
Written and performed by Katie Balen, a comedian based in Los Angeles, Mayor of Nothing is a sharp, surreal, and emotionally raw exploration of ambition, identity, and what happens when we lose sight of what’s real. This marks her debut solo show.
