This show moved me to tears (the only show at fringe to do that, for whatever it’s worth). Elena’s the kind of person, and performer, that moves about a room and takes command of it so effortlessly. Not in a crazy egotistical way, but a charming, grounded, unassuming, and always surprisingly absurd way. This show, to me, is what fringe is all about. This show had everything! Elena brought the audience into her backstory and playfully invited them to participate in her family dynamics. Her timing and physical comedy really works here. The gradual transformation into her father was hilarious and so effective. How he ended up eulogizing himself was a real surprise! The Funeral Show has a truly hilarious premise with a lovely balance of sarcasm and heart. There is a lot of audience interaction without ever feeling intimidating and Elena’s performance is sincere and heartwarming. I had a great time sitting back and relaxing as the chaos ensued.... full review
