Nina Rancel’s powerhouse performance is an exercise in endurance. She shows the absolute resolve an artist must have to pursue their art. The ideas abstracted in this play are organized emotionally, as opposed to logically. The resulting piece of art is astounding.
What I didn't like
Nada
My overall impression
The unwaivering strength of an actress at her best, this exhibition showcases an engaging struggle to succeed against all odds. There are comedic moments, but they are completely natural. They feel less like jokes and more like a highlighted reality, which are the best kind of jokes.
This high wire, high intensity, high stakes performance serves as a monument to perseverance. This production is a tower of tenacity. An infinite construction tied to ancestry, history and modern America, this building stands tall in the face of certain doom.
This is less a show and more an exhaustive exposure of a woman’s soul. Her heart beats loud, like the noise of construction way too early in the morning. Undeniably powerful and unbelievable vulnerable, Nina dances over the pitfalls, sings above the distracting noise and retains her childlike wonder amidst unreasonable obstacles.
