What I liked

Nina is a show stopping performer- you will fall in love with her the moment her first toe hits the stage. I was absolutely amazed by her physicality in her performance. Every inch of her body is utilized in telling her story and each of her movements is intentional and critical to the piece’s progression. You can truly tell that her mind, body and soul is being laid out on the stage during the show, and I left feeling honored to have witnessed such a raw and authentic personal narrative.

What I didn't like

I can only imagine how difficult it was to maintain such a physical and emotionally raw performance for an hour, but I wanted an encore! Give her two more hours! Give her a cast and a blank check to write the next hit Broadway musical! Nina’s story is incredible and immigrant stories like hers should be taking up more space everywhere!!!

My overall impression

Could NOT take my eyes off of Nina Rancel during this incredibly captivating performance. Brick by Brick is an intoxicating roller coaster of joy and sorrow, and most importantly HOPE! As a new resident of Los Angeles, Nina’s recount of her journey to Hollywood spoke to my soul, and to the souls of all artists searching for our dreams in this city. Brick by Brick is an absolute MUST SEE of this years Fringe festival!
